A Delicious Classic Apple Crisp Recipe
I actually did not grow up on apple crisp, my parents were bigger fans of apple pie. Although pie is an American staple, I just absolutely love the crisp oats, buttery-gooey-brown sugar, and melt-in-your-mouth combination of it all paired with homemade whip or ice cream. So. Yum.
You can find the original post when I first shared this recipe, here 🙂 I made a reel more recently, too!
This has become a staple in our home every Autumn, and my kids thoroughly enjoy and love it as well.

Buttery Cinnamon Apple Crisp Recipe
Gather —
For the Apple Filling:
- 5-6 apples (at least half granny smith), peeled, cored, and sliced thinly
 - 1/4 c brown sugar
 - 1/4 c cane sugar
 - 3 Tbsp corn starch
 - 1 Tbsp ground cinnamon
 - 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
 - 3/4 tsp sea salt

For the Crisp Streusel:
- 3/4 c cold butter, cubed
 - 1 1/2 c old fashioned oats
 - 1 c flour
 - 1/3 c brown sugar
 - 1/3 c cane sugar
 - 1/4 tsp sea salt
 - 1 Tbsp ground cinnamon

Make —
-
Preheat oven to 350°F.
 -
Lather your baking dish (I used a pie pan) with butter.
 -
In a large bowl, mix your sugars, corn starch, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt.
 -
Add peeled apple slices to the dry mixture, and stir to fully combine.
 -
Pour your apple filling into your baking dish.
 -
In a separate bowl, make your streusel by using a fork or pastry cutter (or your hands) and mixing your butter, oats, flour, sugars, cinnamon, and salt.
 -
It should be crumbly. Pour the crumble topping over the apples.
 -
Bake for ~30-40 minutes, checking on your crisp until the top turns golden, and you see some bubbling from the apple filling. Ovens vary!
 - Serve warm with ice cream or homemade vanilla bean whipped cream
